Ottawa has been hanging on to 7th place in the Eastern Conference having only 1 win in the last 9 games. They are currently just three points out of dropping out of the playoff race right now. Since we are still technically in the playoff race (8 points is doable right? right???), well this game is a huge deal for the team.
After dropping Sunday night's game to the Pens, the Lightning need a bounce back game. Tonight's game at home is the first to start off a four game homestand and is the perfect opportunity to pick up on the winning. Facing a team that has dropped 8 of 9 is hard though because it's possible you underestimate the Senators and instead of a sucky team, have a Ottawa team putting in a strong effort. Also we can't forget that of the last two meetings, the Senators took both of them.
