Brad Richards may be off to the best start of his career but he still hasn't begun contract talks with the Dallas Stars. The organization is such a mess right now (think back in February for the Bolts) that Joe Nieuwendyk can't begin talking about re-signing him until the ownership situation gets sorted out or gets permission from the NHL. Eric Duhatschek of the Globe and Mail wonders if him being a possible free agent this summer will make him the new Ilya Kovalchuck?

The Dallas Stars have won their first four games of the season and look to increase that to five. They last played on Saturday against the St. Louis Blues where they won 3-2 in a shootout. Former Lightning, Brad Richards currently has two goals and seven assists in four games. After a bit of a massacre on Saturday by the Panthers, the Lightning are back in Tampa for two games at home.
On Friday, news was released that the Stars had hired Gary Roberts as a player development consultant. From the progress he's made with players like Stamkos and Downie, any team to have hired Roberts in player development is making a good move for their future. Dallas spokesman Rob Scichili did confirm by text to Cristodero though that this would not restrict Roberts from continuing to train Stamkos or any other player on the side.
In this game watch for the Stars' top line of Richards, James Neal and Loui Eriksson who has combined for eight goals and 12 assists. And former Thrasher goalie Kari Lehtonen has beeing playing well with 41 saves in Saturday nights game. Their scrutiny of their head coach Marc Crawford's job security has been put temporary on hold while the Stars continue to win. Recently the Stars have demoted Fabian Brunnstrom to the Texas Stars (AHL) and have called up Aaron Gagnon to fill his spot. And according to Mike Heika of Sports Day DFW, Jamie Benn has concussion like symptoms and is doubtful for tonights game
Former Dallas Star, Mike Smith came in to relieve Dan Ellis on Saturday but still let in three goals on twenty three shots. In previous starts against his former team he has gone 1-0-1. As of Sunday, Lecavalier had soreness in his right hand but no bones are broken after taking a slap shot off his hand. His status for tonights game is to be determined at the morning skate.
According to the @TBLightning twitter Lecavalier is very doubtful for tonight's game
