Flyers Goal Scored By... is calling today Simon Gagne Day. They did a great post on is career in Philly and and highlights of some great goals. Head over there to give it a read, it is really well written and with no ill feelings.
Your Preview:
Today is the second game in our road trip back to back. With a surprise ending in Montreal, (really did you think in the third period we'd make a comeback to tie it up and THEN win in overtime? If you are saying yes to this question, then you're lying), the Lightning ruined the Canadiens' home opener.
If I were a Canadiens fan I would be a little choked at the penalty handed out to Subban in the 3rd period, and some non call on some maybe penalty on Malone. But those are NHL refs and c'est la vie. I agreed with your booing of the refs, not so much on your throwing sh-t on the ice...that's just dumb.
Enemy Blog: As I said earlier, head over to Flyers Goal Scored By... for your opposition blog coverage
This is the first of four games that we'll play against Philly and come into this game with two wins. Former Flyer, Simon Gagne makes his return to the team that traded him away for a back of peanuts and some cap room relief. In his twelve years with the team he played ten season for the Flyers. Most Flyers fans I've heard from only have positive things to say about him.
Since Mike Smith played last night, I'm assuming Dan Ellis will get his start tonight in goal. This will be his first start for the Lightning.Line-up Notes:
- Dan Ellis will get his first start in goal
- Matt Smaby in and Dana Tyrell out as per Erlendsson's twitter. Not a play critique but just because it's a back to back game
