Oh movember....

NHL players really seem to embrace this whole movember movement.

And it just adds so much to photos like this one of Stamkos celebrating his goal tonight during the 2nd period:

Dear. f-cking. god. that's. horrid.

Stamkos should just stick to scoring goals not growing moustaches.

Somehow Stamkos' reminds me of the V for Vednetta mask or of Macaulay Culkin's mugshot. Or a cross between the two of them.

Recap after the jump...

The Lightning and Bruins were scoreless for the first period, but the Lightning held the edge in shots at 11 to the Bruins' 7. Steve Downie decided to be Steve Downie after some hit from Lucic and in Downie-sensical fashion tried to hit Chara. Downie is 5'11" and Chara is 6'9". Chara didn't even blink.

Dennis Seidenberg opens up the second period with a cross-check on St. Louis. The Bruins manage to kill off their second penalty of the game and it's still scoreless.

But shortly after,

Dana Tyrell gets his second of the year at 3:26 to put the Lightning up 1-0.

Thought: Dana may need to get a new first name if he wants to be taken seriously. But goals help if you can't get a name change.

Then at 5:15 of the second, Mr. Stamkos gets his 20th of the season to put the Lightning up 2-0. Martin St. Louis obviously gets the assist for his 19th point of the season, and Downie gets the other assist.

You know your night is going well when Teddy Purcell gets a goal. It's his fourth goal of the season, which then puts the Lightning up 3-0. It's going to be a steep hill to climb for the Bruins to come back now.

No more scoring for the rest of the period as the Lightning head to the second intermission up by 3. Rask does make a huge save on St. Louis at the end of the period to keep the Lightning to three goals that period. The Lightning have peppered Rask with 20 shots on goal compared to the 8 the Bruins managed to get on Smith. David Krecji, Milan Lucic and Nathan Horton have apparently forgotten that there was a game tonight.

Thought: With Lecavalier and Gagne out, it's good to see Tyrell and Purcell getting goals here. With the two of the top six out with injury this team needed someone not named Stamkos and St. Louis to step up. Now if only other players could do the same. I'm looking at you Ryan Malone.

In the third period, the Bruins finally get a goal from Michael Ryder halfway through the period. They try to make their comeback and get 12 shots on net to Tampa's 5 but the score remains 3-1 at the end.

Smith does his job in net tonight and stops 26 of 27 shots. Krejci, Lucic and Horton still failed to show up offensively and ended the game with no shots on net all game.

Thought: Randy Jones was a plus 3 and got an assist? Who is this guy and why doesn't he show up more often?

Oh and Gregory Campbell did not get any penalties tonight. But of course locker room talk has no influence on the refs even if he did.
