This is the first of the six meeting we'll have against our SE Division bretheren. If you can take anything from the season so far, maybe we'll see the two teams battling it out for the top of the SE Division at the end of the year. Is that wishful thinking? I guess we'll have to see how it all plays out, there's still a long season left.
The Caps come into the game with a five game win streak going and a seat at the top of the conference. They are currently 11-4-0 coming into tonight's game and their home ice record is 7-1-0
Stamkos scored two goals in the game against the Leafs, but the Capitals obviously look to be a bigger test than Toronto was. Ditto for tomorrow's game, even if the Pens are playing as well as expected.
Steve Downie is not on this roadtrip but hopes to be back for Sunday's game. Expect that we'll hear a callup for another forward later in the day. For the Caps, Tom Poti and Semyon Varlamov are listed as day to day, but according to the Washington Post, Poti is probable for the game
- No word on who the starter is yet
- Simon Gagne is still out
- Steve Downie is out
